I’ve tested a lot of Minecraft mods that sound cool on paper but feel kind of forgettable in-game. Lycanite’s Mobs Mod (Creatures of the Inferno) is more interesting than that, mostly because it actually changes how the world feels instead of just adding random clutter. Lycanite's Mobs Mod adds numerous additional mobs to particular biomes, dimensions, and more. These mobs vary from benign Makas, farmable mammal-like reptiles with gigantic sails (beware the alphas!), to terrifying Grues composed of darkness itself! Expect to see furious elementals such as Cinders and Spriggans emerging from massive flames or thick grass and crops!

I considered Fabric, but I'd have to rewrite the entire mod, whereas Forge is still going strong and is the undisputed monarch of modified Minecraft, with no indications of slowing down (be sure to support the Forge devs, as without them there would be no mods like there are today). Fabric is nice, but I don't intend on making a Fabric version for the time being; nevertheless, this mod is open source, so anybody is welcome to take up the challenge!
