I’ve tested a lot of Minecraft mods that sound cool on paper but feel kind of forgettable in-game. Realistic Torches Mod (Better Dynamic Lighting for Minecraft) is more interesting than that, mostly because it actually changes how the world feels instead of just adding random clutter. Minecraft Realistic Torches Mod is a little mod developed for modpack creators that want to increase the challenge of the early game. The main feature of this mod is that torches burn out after a certain length of time, encouraging players to switch to more permanent light sources early on.

Realistic Torches is a little mod that makes early gameplay more challenging by forcing torches to burn out after a certain length of time. This encourages players to gravitate toward more persistent light sources from the start.
- Torches are now unlit when they are made and must be lighted using a matchbox.
- Torches will burn out after a customizable length of time (by default, 60 minutes real-time), pushing players to seek out more permanent light sources.
- When it rains, the torches go out.
- Unlit torches will replace torches created in vanilla constructions.
- A glowstone crystal may be used to create permanently lighted torches.
- When handled, naturally light-emitting blocks and things will produce light (pre-1.14.4)
